Biography
Damien became interested in guitar in his early teens after a stretch of classical piano lessons. Having taught himself the basics from a book, he took music at school and college and joined several bands, playing venues around York in the late 90's .
Whilst studing for his degree in Manchester, he became heavily involved in DJ'ing in and around Manchester and was steared in the direction of music production. You can veiw and listen to his currently un-released dance music @ http://www.reverbnation.com/damienjamessweeting
Damien started to take guitar seriously in 2003 when through the influence of such artist like Joe Satriani, Steve Vai , Eric Johnson , Paul Gilbert, Yngwei Malmsteen and John Petrucci, he found they brought out the desire for him to play guitar instrumental rock. With this newly found passion he devoted hours to his daily guitar routine into learning the techniques and solos of the greats as best he could from tablature and the internet. It was at this point he started to get serious and decided to have lessons working his way through the entire RGT grades 1-8 and learning specialist skills whilst studying with another RGT tutor.
Damien currently performs with the band Morpheus Rising, a New Wave of British Heavy Metal twin guitar band from York, who have seen success from previous UK tours and the release of their single 'Fighting Man' available to buy from www.morpheusrising.co.uk . They are playing dates this year already and are due to tour end of April 2011. See website for dates/venues.
Damien also is the lead guitarist for recording artist MariaJordan.com who is signed to Warner. He will be in the studios and touring with Maria in 2011.
Damien also performs as a session guitarist with the theatre company 'York Stage Musical' under the musical direction of Michael Thompson and Dan Heald.
